Fly Fishing on the Traful River

Enjoy catch and release fly fishing on the Traful River at Estancia Arroyo Verde. Seek brown trout, rainbow trout, and the elusive land-locked salmon.

OVERVIEW

Transform your pace of life at Estancia Arroyo Verde—paradise in Patagonia.

Enjoy nature and adventure—in comfort—on this family-run working ranch of 4500 hectares located within the Nahuel Huapi National Park in the Traful river valley.

Ride on horseback through valleys, along the river, and up mountains with breathtaking scenery of the property and surroundings. Similarly, hike along numerous trails, some gentle, some more energetic. Or simply admire the grace and beauty of the rare and iconic Andean Condor while bird watching.

If you’re an expert angler or want to try out fly fishing, then 10 miles of the renowned Traful River—which runs through the unspoiled beauty of the Estancia—is a stroll away from the main lodge. The streaming waters of the legendary river protect the landlocked salmon, a rare trophy to which the most demanding anglers aspire. You can also catch and release brown trout and rainbow trout.

As a guest, you can stay in the traditional main lodge of the Estancia or the adjacent stone and wood house, both with a welcoming and comfortable atmosphere. Alternatively, you can sojourn in a cabin perched on a rocky outcrop over Lake Traful, a mile and a half away from the main lodge.

The Larivière family—custodians of the Estancia for over 80 years—look forward to welcoming you to their hidden Patagonian paradise.

GASTRONOMY

As a guest of Estancia Arroyo Verde, you will savor Patagonian cuisine and appreciate why it is so unique and special.

Lunches and dinners consist of three courses: a starter, a main, and dessert. Before each meal, you can enjoy an aperitif served with drinks and a table of regional cold cuts and smoked hams.

The Estancia offers homemade Argentine food and the region’s traditional cuisine: empanadas, carbonada, schnitzels, puchero, and of course, the famous Argentine steak.

A favorite of guests at the ranch is Asado—the famous Argentine barbeque—prepared for lunch and served outdoors in the garden. While admiring the Patagonian surroundings, you can watch the Asador prepare lamb, beef, chorizo, provolone cheese, roasted vegetables over embers from local mountain wood. Enjoy this with an assortment of salads.

For dinner, feast on fresh fish, pasta, homegrown chicken, and choose from various homemade soups.

Pancakes with dulce de leche is another guest favorite among other homemade desserts.

The Estancia also offers a fine selection of Argentine red and white wines that you can combine with your meals.

Vegan, vegetarian or gluten free dishes are also available on request.
